My Top Boys Love Manga of July
1. Lullaby of the Dawn Vol. 4
Synopsis
Night after night, Elva steps forth into the black sea with sword in hand, driving back creatures that surge forth from the waves – for he is one of the ‘kannagi,’ white-haired, ageless warrior priests chosen by the divine to protect the people of the island. Although kannagi are destined to live short and lonely lives, Elva has found devoted companion in Alto, whose touch heals the black stains left by the cursed sea, and who has sworn to serve him and free him from his cursed fate.
Our number one boys love manga pick for this month is Lullaby of the Dawn! If you haven’t read this intriguing manga yet, I highly recommend you pick it up as your next read! Whilst it falls more within the realm of shounen ai than yaoi, don’t let that put you off! This intriguing fantasy tale is sure to get your mind working and the fluffiness of this one is off the scale! Alto is such a precious man and Alto is absolutely adorable!

2. I Hear the Sunspot; Four Seasons Vol 2.
Synopsis
Kohei Sugihara, a college student with hearing loss, and Taichi Sagawa, his ever-optimistic former classmate, met in a chance encounter that ignited an undeniable spark that would eventually blossom into love.
Summer has at last arrived, but Kohei’s job search is sapping all his free time. Taichi, now a working professional, is struggling with his role as a mentor to the office’s new hire. And life only grows more complicated when Taichi receives a sudden phone call from his estranged father.
Our number two spot goes to I hear the Sunspot; Four Seasons. I may be biased as this series was the first boys love manga I ever bought, but it is quite possibly one of my favourites! If you’re a fan of the anime A Silent Voice then this is for you! Once again, this is more on the shounen ai route, but this ‘more than friends, less than lovers’ story does an amazing job at portraying the struggles of deaf people in Japan and follows the budding relationship closely, not rushing into anything unlike boys love manga tends to do.

3. Minato’s Laundromat Vol. 3
Synopsis
“I won’t stop loving you.” Akira is unsure of his feelings for Shin after receiving such passionate advances from the boy. But after watching Shin’s performance at the sports festival, he understands the deep affection he has for Shin is not romantic love. That’s when Akira runs into his high school teacher and former crush, Sakuma…!
One word; fluff! The pure tooth rotting kind. Who doesn’t love a good fluffy boys love manga though? Despite Akira and Shin’s relationship not really flourishing due to Akira’s hangups, I think it’s safe to say in terms of cuteness appeal, this is number one on our list! If you’re wondering about the half red flag… well… Shin does something a tad stupid towards the end that earns him half a red flag.

4. Delinquent Daddy and Tender Teacher Vol. 4
Synopsis
Hitsuji and Hatoyama are growing closer than ever. And while Hitsuji may not have been ready to take the leap into cohabitating, he’s determined to support Hatoyama and his son Hinata however he can. And boy, it looks like they’re gonna need it! With Hinata still struggling to form a connection with his new teacher, Samejima, and Hatoyama working himself to the bone to save up money for a bigger place, things are on the stressful side for this little family. It’s up to Hitsuji to lend a hand and find the courage to show Hatoyama just how much he cares for him!
I think fluff may be the theme for us this month! Here’s another fluffy boys love manga that is basically just a story of domestic bliss… or struggles. But it’s so cute that even with the stress in this volume this is too cute to call it anything other than domestic bliss.

5. Kei x Yaku Bound By Law Vol. 2
Synopsis
Despite being on opposite sides of the law, Public Security Bureau agent Ichiro and yakuza lieutenant Shiro use a whirlwind romance as camouflage for investigating the mystery of Rion Nakaba’s disappearance. While Shiro had already been looking into the politicians and criminals mentioned in the journal his sister left with him, not everything in her notes is as it seems. When the fake lovers catch a break in the case, they find themselves stepping into more dangerous waters than either could have anticipated…
Is it even a true Lola list without a yakuza recommendation? Once again, this is my favourite trope so I may be biased in my recommendation but I genuinely ADORE Yakuza Boys Love manga. This one really just scratches all the itches. It’s a honey trap, gritty and violent, with a tiny bit of cuteness sprinkled in. And I mean TINY. Honestly it’s everything I want and more! The only thing missing is that for a yaoi, there is very little sexiness and that gives it more of a boys love manga feeling. In fact, volume one was far further towards yaoi than than this volume.
Whilst the first volume left a little to be desired, volume two really ramps it up a notch in terms of story development. Whilst there isn’t really any development romantically between the main couple in this volume, the actual plot more than makes up for it! This has my in a chokehold right now and I can’t wait to get a hold of the next volume!
